Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Lembaga Koko Malaysia (LKM) signed memorandum of understanding (MoU), as both parties seek to explore cocoa extract related research in health products and e-Nose technology using artificial intelligence, AI to improve the evaluations of cocoa beans quality.
The MoU was signed by the Director of BioAromatic Research Centre, Profesor Madya Dr. Saiful Nizam Tajuddin (UMP) and Director General, Dr. Haji Ramle Haji Kasin (LKM) at Premiera Kuala Lumpur, witnessed by Minister of Plantation Indutries and Commodities, Datuk Dr. Mohd. Khairuddin Aman Razali, Chairman of LKM, Dr. Aliakhbar Gulasan and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) UMP, Profesor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) UMP, Profesor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli stated the UMP researchers will use their expertise in e-Nose technology for early determination of cocoa beans quality based on their odors and active compound profile detection to improve the efficiency of current method.
